This cartoon is a whimsical imagination of what life is like in the lung (specifically the right lung). The trillions of organisms that call your lungs a home control important aspects of your day-to-day life. They probably have a day-to-day life too, running errands and such. 

How did these bacteria get into your lungs? Do they colonize the lungs when we are born and then grow up with us? Do we have a bacterial signature, a certain recipe of different families of bacteria? Do the bacteria determine how long we will live or how we will die?

Life on a Petri Dish® is on a quest to uncover the beauty of our microbiome. It is amazing how we enhance our life when we understand how it works.
